Ad spend

Why "We Tried Ads Before and It Didn't Work" Is Almost Never About the Ads

It's the single most common objection in automotive marketing: "We already tried Facebook ads, we tried Google, it didn't bring in sales." Almost every time, the campaign was actually generating leads. What was missing was everything that happened after the click.

Ad platforms are good at one job: getting a form filled out or a phone to ring. What happens in the next five minutes, the next day, and the next week determines whether that lead becomes a sale or a wasted ad dollar, and that part has nothing to do with the ad itself.

The pattern behind "it didn't work"

When we audit a dealership that says ads failed them, we consistently find the same three gaps, almost never a bad campaign:

A lead that clicked an ad already raised their hand. Losing them afterward isn't a marketing problem. It's a process problem wearing a marketing costume.

What an actual audit looks like

Before touching a single ad dollar, we look at: how fast leads get contacted, how many follow-up touches each lead gets before being marked dead, and how leads are distributed across your team. In most cases, fixing those three things recovers more revenue than doubling ad spend ever would.

Only once that foundation is solid does it make sense to talk about scaling traffic, otherwise you're just paying more to leak the same percentage out the bottom.
